Care & Safety Tips

Providing you with care and safety advice to keep your tags looking as good as new and your dog safe whilst wearing them.

  • SUPERVISION

Never leave your dog wearing their tag unsupervised.

Tags hang down and can get caught in all sorts of different ways which can then cause your dog to panic and then can pose a choking risk.

Crates, Radiators and handles are some common areas tags can get caught. Please take extra care whilst tags are being worn.

If your dog is a serial chewer, the same applies, remove the tag if unattended.

  • CLEANING

Tags should only be cleaned with luke warm water and Fairy between your fingers. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, sponges or cloths.

Ensure tags are dried properly prior to reattaching to your dogs collar/harness.

  • BEACH/CHLORINE/OTHER NATURAL CONTAMINANTS

If your dog's tag comes into contact with water, sand, chlorine, mud etc. please ensure it is cleaned at the first opportunity. Prolonged exposure can cause the metal bezel to tarnish or the resin to yellow or haze. Tarnishing does not compromise the strength of the tag however it can make the tag look more worn which may be undesirable.

  • SPLIT RINGS

Please check these daily. They can bend with use or can get caught and open which could cause the tag to work itself off of the ring and become lost. If you're taking your dog out in public, you should be checking that ID is on them before leaving anyway.

  • LEADS

NEVER attach a lead to your dog's ID tag. It is not intended for this and by doing so you are compromising your dog's safety.

  • MULTIPLE TAGS

If you are using your tag as a fashion tag and a separate tag for ID, please bear in mind that two different metals rubbing together could cause tarnishing or undesired wear. We recommend they are worn so they are not touching.

  • INGESTION

If your dog ingests one of our tags contact your vet immediately. The materials are non-toxic but it still poses an obstruction risk. Do not leave anything to see if it passes. Always seek your vets opinion.

  • STORAGE

When not in use we recommend your tag is kept in a cool, dark, dry place away from perfumes or other contaminants.

  • INTEGRITY

Check the tag's integrity regularly paying attention to any dents/chips etc. which could cause the tag to come apart. Always contact us for advice if you have any worries.
